Calling All Creatives

We're hosting our first-ever booth at an Earth Day Event this weekend.  We decided to do this two hours ago.  The event is Saturday morning.  Story of our life.  We'll promote our business.  Meet tons of people.  Smile until our faces hurt.  Rumor has it there will be unlimited lemonade and snow cones, so I'm sure all the smiling and hand shaking will be worth it.

Since photo booths never get old, I'm thinking we'll have an Earth Day Photo Booth.  I need to gather props.  When you hear the words, "Earth Day" what comes to mind?  I'll admit, Diva Cup pops into mine.  This is just a guess, but I'm thinking no one will want to hold one of those in the photo booth, so that's why I'm here...asking my favorite people for help.

Earth Day.

Earth.  Day.

Errrrth.  Day.

What stands out?  I need prop ideas, friends.  Let's put our heads together and think earthy thoughts.

Not gonna lie, Diva Cup was the first thing in my mind too...love that thing!

Re-purposing items...much like the purses that you talk about from time to time. Necklaces made from cereal boxes. Compost. Um...yeah, that's it. It's after 9 here in Germany, though, so I have an excuse...

Trees, Baby seals, Dirt, Water, Recycling...Those are pretty cliche huh?

yes, i don't think anyone will want to hold a diva cup!!! good thing i wasn't drinking something when i read that! i always think of the photo of earth from space. maybe some kind of background art - a big painted earth - with green and blue blobs painted on it. the crafty crow is a great place to look for earth day crafts.

What about the opposite of earth day? You could have bags of trash, those plastic soda can things dolphins get stuck in, general liter...

Miniature garden tools (like you use in the flower garden), anything with the recycle logo, and poster board signs. (like the one people make for rallies, demonstrations, and parades)

Don't forget to post sample photos for us to see!!!

Shovels, rakes, recycle bin, gardening supplies, chainsaw, a large wall of sandals...thinking out of the box, tough on short notice! :]

Ok. I had to google diva cup. All I can say is gross. Kudos to those who can be that "green". I like the re-purposing idea. Props made from trash. The capri sun purses, light garland from old Christmas lights and plastic soda bottles. Bet there are tons of ideas out on websites. But time may be an issue.

From a marketing perspective, it'd be ideal to connect your business to the props/decorations at your booth...so family-oriented, activity-oriented, with your website address and/or logo splashed all over.

Can you buy flower seeds or lettuce seeds or something in bulk that you put into your own envelopes with directions as well as a description of/link to your website...and focus on value of family activity???

I am a new stay at home mom and sorta miss my branding/marketing/events plannning-related career

Blow up globe...I have one to lend you but it won't get there in time! :) Hugging a big cut-out tree? (But then I think of crazy people sitting in trees so they don't cut them down...and those people aren't showering or bathing...and that isn't a great photo material...) Boas belong in photobooths...maybe made from recycled materials like plastic bags all tied together? (because you need another project in order to make this project bigger) "Picket" signs that protesters carry with save the earth sayings...umm, I give up. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

Recycling paraphernalia

Bicycles

Gardening hats (you know, the ones with the big brim)

I agree with others....for some reason I think garden tools and those flowered gloves that my granny wore - straw hats - seed packets would be cute - recycle something?? - a reusable water bottle - small potted plant

okay, so my thought was to do recycling items (trash bags, lots of cardboard, aluminum foil, plastic and paper grocery sacks, twine, leaves, etc.) and let people create their own hats/outifts out of that.

Makes for some creativity on their part and you can connect it to the idea of finding a second life for things (you know, Earth Day stuff....), plus since you are gearing it to families, could be a fun thing for families to do together and, as someone mentioned already, will connect it to your business.

I think that combined with some of the other props people have mentioned could be really fun!

PS: Love seeing you and your family's lovely faces on the blog :)

flower pots, dirt, seed packets, saplings, granola, inflatable globe.... looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Hope you post some pics of the event.

I found your blog years ago as newlywed living in Qatar. Five years later, with two little people under foot, I don't get to browse blogs much anymore. But, my hubster just left for Haiti today so I thought I'd jump on here this evening and read a bit about your time there. Thanks for blogging. God has used your words and stories to convict me and help me see some planks in my own eye that I didn't really recognize until I was laughing and saying ouch at some of your stories. You amaze me that you are able to be wife, mom, teacher, blogger, etc...etc..etc... Thanks for being faithful to use the gifts and talents He has given you!
Happy Earth Day photo boothing! :) woot woot!

Diva cups. GAAAAAGGGG! Some things are just not worth saving the earth for. Just sayin' !!

I like the idea of handing out seed packets with a promo label. You could have your boys paint some collected sticks with graduated marks like a ruler for planting those seeds. You could do a Santa hat and have a hoe as a prop: "hoe, hoe, hoe" . Or party hats made from scrap paper and do a Happy b'Earth Day theme.
