I am one of your secret blog stalkers. I look forward to your posts every day. Our family loves this game. It is of course more fun to play together as a family, but if you get as addicted as I have, you will want to play it more often. You can play on this site http://games.asobrain.com/.

This game is SO fun. Have you played the extension game, Seafarers of Caton? You can have more than four people, but it's even more rules. Fun!

I've heard about how fun this is!!! I'm thinking we'll get it for Jacob's birthday. Is Ashton able to play? I'm wondering if we need the 5-6 player extension?

I'm glad you had such a great Advent and are having a wonderful Christmas!

yes we agree. We have only played a few times, but my word, this game can consume you.

This game is so fun, but I definitely think it would be hard for young kids. Even Anson's age may have a hard time if playing with experienced adults.

I think we'll use this one more for grown ups at our house, but let the boys play every once in awhile against each other.

We need the extension pack!!!

travis and i have been addicted to this game for years, but we have never owned it. it gets in your head and you find yourself thinking about it and planning for the next time! we bought settlers of canaan because it was cheaper and good friends of ours down the street had catan...definitely not the same but i think it might be easier for kids to learn how to play it (and come on, it's so spiritual :-) ). the strategy is basically the same but the board is the same every time. enjoy! we want to get catan and the seafarers extension kit :-)

This is so funny, I was blog searchin and came across yours. Love it. Anyway today a friend was just telling me about this game, but she didn't know much about it. I guess now I am going to have to look into it!! I had never heard of it before.

Blessings, enjoyed my stay. Happy New Year!

Definitely get the Seafarers expansion, it's a gamechanger. It makes it a whole different game. Also, I think you should be made aware that this exists:

1995 German game of the year! I wanted to wait until fewer people would look at this post, cause this is an AWESOME (read underhanded) strategy. If you are able to get the Monopoly development card, figure out what has been rolled the most recently. This works best if you have it. Say wheat has been rolled. Trade away all your wheat, whatever you can get for it, just dont be too obvious. Then play your monopoly card for wheat. Not only do you get everyone's wheat, you get yours back, and you get the cards they traded for your wheat.

Just a heads up, people wont like you at all for the first 15 mins after you do this.

Wow. That's super evil, Andy. I can't wait to do that! Thanks for waiting until no one else in my family would ever know to check here!
