Abraham Lincoln

I remember my mother's prayers and they have always
followed me. They have clung to me all my life.

Thank you for the encouragement! I am also doing a whole Bible reading plan right now. However, I am getting bogged down in the books of the law.

This is something I have never done and God has already taught me so much in just the first few books I've read! He is continually faithful!! Even when his people are not.

God has also been showing Matt and I scriptures to be praying over our little boy. One Matt was shown recently is:

1 Chronicles 28:9
"And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever."

Hey Heather! THANKS! At Christmas the Lord laid on y heart to read thru the Bible. I started using the biblegateway.com plan. It is a year long plan but I am a little behind and soaking in all that I can. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I always end up getting behind at different points throughout the year.

I've learned not to get discouraged. God is certainly NOT discouraged in me for not following a reading plan. The point of the plan is to know God, and one of the things I know about Him is He delights in us, even though we mess up.

We need to be in His Word and stop making excuses, but we also need to be okay with how frail we truly are apart from Him.

So...

When I get behind, I find the next spot that makes the most sense to jump back in, and then make time to catch up on the parts I missed. I don't like to just jump back in anywhere. The point of reading through the Bible is seeing the big picture, so missing half of a book, and then jumping in mid way doesn't work.

God is good, and gives us more strength and discipline than we think we have in us when our hearts desire to know Him. He's the one that said to seek...to knock...and we will find Him.

To add to all you said, Deuteronomy 32:47 says "These words of the law are not just idle words for you, the are your LIFE." My prayer is that I would (and all of us would) live like that is actually true! Thanks for encouraging us all to stay in the sweet Word that gives joy to our hearts, light to our eyes, and makes wise the simple! (psalm 19)
